A good half hour drive inland from Moraira you will find the village of Guadalest. Wow… I’m sure you don’t expect this. The castle (El Castell de Guadalest) offers a beautiful view over the reservoir. And then cool off at the waterfalls of Algar (Fonts de Algar)
Altea
The old part of Altea is the most fascinating. The new part is really on the coast where you mainly have a long promenade along the beach. However, especially the old part that is more inland, and therefore a lot higher, is fantastic to see. The old small white houses, the narrow streets, the old street lamps, everything here reminds you of the past. On the old square at the ¨Virgin del Consuelo¨ church you will find several terraces and various art galleries. Another tip: just past the square you have a beautiful view of the new part of Altea and the Mediterranean Sea.
Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos
In almost all villages on the Costa Blanca the ¨Moros y Cristianos¨ festival is celebrated exuberantly. Tourists from all over Europe come to the Costas especially for these festivals. In order to regulate the flow of visitors a bit, each village has been given its own date. If you are on the Costa Blanca in the summer months, you should definitely experience this spectacle. Peñon de Ifach
