Things to see in Benidorm
Benidorm; the New York from the Costa Blanca! About 20 kilometers from Moraira you will find the largest resort on the Costa Blanca. The coastal town, which many years ago did not have a very good reputations because of its lack of atmosphere, cheap hotels, dodgy tourism, etc., has in recent years become the busiest resort on the Costa Blanca.
History of Benidorm
Traditionally, the English are particularly fond of Benidorm. They have been coming to Benidorm in large numbers for many years to party in particular. In addition, the Germans, Belgians, Scandinavians and the Dutch have also found there way to Benidorm. It is therefore a mixture of cultures and that is reflected in the wide range of shops, bars, restaurants and discotheques.
Boulevard of Benidorm
During the day, the long boulevard is the place to be. You can stroll here for miles and see how tourists enjoy the beach life or, for example, a drink on one of the many terraces. There is always something to see or experience in Benidorm. In the evening the boulevard turns into a pleasant busy street where various street artists show their tricks, traders sell their merchandise and artists show their sand sculptures. The temperatures are pleasant in the evenings from spring to autumn, making it a bustle on the dozens of terraces on the boulevard.
Animal parks, amusement park or water park?
On the north side of the city you will find Aqualandia and Mundomar. Aqualandia is a large water park with a large number of swimming pools, slides and play equipment. Next to the water park is Mundomar, with dolphin shows, sea lion shows, fish and parrots. From the terrace of one of the restaurants you have a beautiful view over the city of Benidorm. To the west of Benidorm, just next to the motorway, you will find the Terra Natura, Aqua Natura and Terra Mitica parks. The Terra Natura park is a zoo of 320,000 square meters with more than 1500 animals. The zoos in the Netherlands and United Kingdom are usually a lot bigger nonetheless, it remains a nice outing.
The adjacent Aqua Natura water park is only open during the summer months (late May to mid-September) and is most advantageous if you combine it with a visit to the zoo. Terra Mitica is a theme park that focuses primarily on attractions and a number of shows. Opened in 2000, this park is divided into different zones, including Greece, Egypt, Rome and Oceania. This park offers entertainment for young and old. The park is open very irregularly, consulting the calendar on their site is a must. Here you find all the Excursions & Daytrips.
Benidorm Island
About 3,5 kilometers off the coast of Benidorm lies Benidorm Island, also known as Peacock Island. This nature reserve can only be reached by boat. Snorkellers and divers love to come to the island.
